THE SCHOOL ALUMNI 校友会
德明政府中学于1956年创校,今年正好庆祝建校60周年。校方办了180桌宴席于丹绒禺校址。 校友会也不遗余力,协助校方招集各年届校友,共凑得35桌。当晚的主宾是张志贤副总理。两位校友,杨莉明高级政务部长,刘燕玲政务次长也是座上嘉宾。
在今年的国庆,我校杰出校友再度为校争光。我会名誉会长何侨生先生荣膺我国总统颁赐国庆日荣誉,获颁公共服务星章(BBM)。何先生虽然商务繁忙,还是热心服务新加坡和祖籍国的公益事业,实在令人钦佩,也让我们校友师生倍感光荣。
2016年三月间校友会举办会员大会,选出2016到2018年理事。有4位70, 80年代毕业的校友加入理事会,给予理事会加强实力。三位长期服务的理事也荣升为名誉理事。这次,大会也一致赞成所拟改的两项章程。
德明政府中学校友会2016年活动记录
二月十日,校友会理事出席母校于东海岸国际海鲜酒楼主办的新春午宴,与符校长,副校长,老师们一同捞鱼生庆新年。
二月十七日,校友会于万兴酒楼设新春团拜宴席,邀请符校长,多位前校长,与老师们与校友们,一同迎春庆新年。
二月二十一日,麦波申基层所主办的敬老尊贤新春日,校友会赞助几十桌午斋餐,与百多位乐龄人士分享春节喜庆。
三月二十日,德明政府中学校友会于母校举行2016年会员大会与第十七届理事会选举。
七月二十二日,校友会设宴款待泰国罗勇中学12人代表团,让彼此的友情更深厚。
八月三日,孤儿学童造访歌唱班. 会长携带来自非洲,马拉威及史瓦济兰的孤儿学童造访上课的校友会歌唱班,他们载歌载舞,通暁中文,跟我们很投缘,华语歌、闽南歌曲难不倒他们,大伙儿渡过了愉快难忘的一夜。
八月六日,德明校友会在母校举办榴槤共享会。在分享榴槤之前,一起参观校史馆,理事也和校友们传授有关榴槤的知识。这次把榴槤带到母校,这样的安排让校友们更方便。
八月三十一日,校友会在母校举办一系列的讲座和讨论会。第一场缅甸创业讲座在8月31日圆满举行,让校友对缅甸发展事业有更深一层的了解。
九月一日,校友会理事和数位校友出席母校举办的教师节晚宴,除了欣赏现任老师们的表演,大家也和昔日校长和退休老师们叙旧举杯畅饮,并合照留念。
除此之外,每逢星期三晚上七点三十分,校友会声乐班举办民族美声班。校友会声乐班至今已办了七年。
明年,我会将举办校友会成立30周年庆祝会,筹备工作已展开。在接下来的一年里,理事们将马不停蹄,各尽所能,务必要把周年庆祝办得成功。
The Youth Alumni has been actively involving in contributing to our Alma mater, the wider Dunmanian Community and society-at-large via the following initiatives:
Youth Alumni Annual “Pizza Party” & Introductory Session
• Every December, the Youth Alumni hosts a “Pizza Party” to thank all volunteers and office-bearers who have been helming various initiatives throughout the year. At this session, we also have the latest graduates from DHS join us to learn more about the work of the Youth Alumni and sign themselves up to take the Youth Alumni forward.

Youth Alumni Support for DHS Scholarship & Higher Education Committee
• Updating the CSHE Guidebook
- A team of 5 Alumni have been assisting the Committee to update and enhance the existing Scholarship & Higher Education Guidebook to help juniors make better post-A level decisions.
• Creating the CSHE Portal
- Another team of Alumni have been working with the Committee teachers to collate and furnish resources to create DHS’ first-ever SHE portal that we hope will inspire more students to take a pro-active approach to prepare and plan for their post-A level careers.
• CSHE Day – Term 2
- We supported and hosted dialogue sessions between invited external guests and our Yr 4 juniors. This year we had more than 10 alumni supporting this.
• Scholarship Café – Term 2
- Seniors, who had the privilege of being offered Scholarships by public and private sector organizations, came back to share about their thought processes, study and work experiences. This year we had 10 alumni scholarship holders supporting this.
• Public Policy Workshop – Term 2
- This is a new initiative aimed at exposing interested students in a career with the Public Service. This year we had 4 alumni public servants supporting this.
• Senior High YA Sharing – Term 3
- Seniors from all walks of life returned to share how they navigated their post A-levels life including choices relating to internships, NS, University and career. This year we had more than 25 alumni supporting this event.
• University World Café – Term 3
- Seniors who are studying at or have graduated from Universities all over the world came back to share their study, living and internship experiences abroad, so as to help juniors make more informed choices in time to come.
- This year, we had alumni who have spent time in Singapore, China, England, Finland, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand & the United States joining us.
Youth Alumni Overseas Service Learning Trip to Cambodia (Team DAISY)
• The YA’s very own service learning project has been serving the same Cambodian rural community for the last 6 years. In the process of doing so, we have brought about better water storage, power systems and educational resources to the needy.
• Team DAISY’s next trip will be in December 2017.
Youth Alumni UK & China Branches
• Numerous meet-ups, social gatherings, festivals all year round, as well as meet-ups with visiting DHS teachers and students.
